I'm Steve Dew, Director of AssessProgress and a Head Teacher at a two form entry, inner city primary school in Oxford.
I've been a Head since 2013; prior to that I'd taught in two Nurseries, seven primaries and a secondary school since 2003.
As a Head Teacher I'm acutely aware of the pressures of time and budget on schools on a daily basis, the push and pull of the system, how your context can be a great positive or huge challenge and the myriad of primary writing assessment options open to you.
I have been using Adaptive Comparative Judgement (ACJ) in schools to predominantly assess writing since 2017. This has mostly been running sessions in Year 6 in partnership Moderation of Primary Writing purposes and in 2018-19 for formative assessment across Year 1-Year 6 in a group of schools initially in Oxfordshire.
In 2019 RM, the Education software giant, bought out the original software I had been using and I supported them in building and developing RM Compare, their Comparative Judgement software.
Since 2017 I've spoken about the power of Comparative Judgement in formative / summative assessment and for moderation in the U.K, Sweden and Madrid.
AssessProgress is a service solution independent of RM and offers our unique service to schools to maximise your subscription of RM Compare. We are therefore uniquely placed to support your use of moderating writing using comparative judgement, to develop teachers knowledge and understanding of assessment both formative and summative using Adaptive Comparative Judgement.
Still interested? We look forward to hearing from you soon.
